Cross-Cultural Interior Objects by Sizar Alexis
The cross-cultural approach in Swedish-Iraqi designer Sizar Alexis’ interior pieces, blends Scandinavian minimalism with Mesopotamian cultural heritage. Influenced by Brutalism’s monolithic and geometric characteristics, minimal designs are created using materials such as steel, leather, and pine wood, that will stand the test of time. By using natural materials, easily found in Swedish landscapes, we have the ability to connect deeper with our true nature. Serene objects based on the design principles of simplicity, functionality, and materiality are crafted like the geometrical furniture series’ ‘ItooRaba’ and ‘Ode’ made out of burned and natural pine from Sweden’s forests.
